The Great Umpqua Palette Challenge
The Umpqua Valley’s Premier Wine, Beer and Food Event
Casa de Belen’s Great Umpqua Palate Challenge will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Danny Lang Center at UCC. This will be the third time we host this amazing event. Our inaugural event was held September 13, 2014, sold out, and was a HUGE SUCCESS!
There will be something for everyone at the Great Umpqua Palate Challenge — whether you are an experienced wine and beer enthusiast or new to the world of wine and beer. This event will feature wine and beer tasting with food pairings, entertainment and a blind wine and beer tasting competition. Join us in the beautiful setting of the Southern Oregon Wine Institute (SOWI) to taste wines showcased by Umpqua Valley Wineries and culinary specialties from locally celebrated chefs! There will also be live jazz music, a silent and oral auction, and a dessert dash!
Our goal is to raise awareness of teen homelessness in Douglas County by creating a fun, entertaining event that celebrates the richness of living in this abundant region. By gathering at the beautiful Danny Lang Event Center, enjoying world-class wines made in the Umpqua Valley, and pairing them with epicurean treats crafted by local culinary superstars, we hoped to demonstrate that in such a spectacular area, homelessness should be eradicated.
With also hope to raise $50,000 — to support homeless teens and their families living at Casa de Belen in the form of 2000 days and nights of safe, supportive and loving housing, home-cooked meals, access to supportive services, and a caring group of staff and volunteers dedicated to helping them improve their lives.
Tickets are $50 each and will go on sale July 1st. They can be purchased online, at Casa de Belen (located at 1199 NE Grandview), While Away Books (located at 932 W Harvard) and Hanson Jewelers (located at 709 SE Jackson St.).
